Crysis DX10 GPU Benchmark on Vista 32bit

Here are the same settings: 1920x1200 on "high" no AA, v1.2 with Forceware v169.44. As you can see there is a significant performance hit for using DX10.

Vista32 is up and running!

I just got my copy of Windows Vista Ultimate SP1, and got it set up on the Quad. I had been refusing to buy Vista until SP1 came out, so when it did I went ahead and upgraded. Most of the installation went smoothly, but there was one hitch.

I have a DLink DWA-552 Extreme N wireless card set up on the Quad now and when I tried to install the v1.3 Vista drivers I got a hard lock up. I had been very clever or so I thought and had downloaded the Vista v1.2 drivers as well so I tried those. Same result. Hard lock.

A quick search of the forums on google showed a lot of other people having the same problem. Figures.

Ironically the fix for this problem is to use the v1.11 XP drivers. So that is what I am running on now. I hope that DLink will address this problem soon. It is crappy to buy a nice piece of hardware only to have the experience ruined by crappy drivers.

Oh well, it's working now. I'll get Crysis set up later this week and run some benchmarks so we can compare performance to XP. I don't expect to be pleased :( The price of progress.

New Crysis GPU Benchmarks

Here is the GPU benchmark with the new v1.2 patch and new Forceware 169.44 beta drivers. As you can see it is a slight improvement over v1.1 and Forceware 169.28.

It looks like I am getting about a 1-2 fps improvement over the old patch and drivers. In Crysis every frame counts and it's nice to see them moving in the right direction.

Again these tests are conducted on Windows XP 32 bit, 1920x1200 res, Q6600 @ 3.2 GHz, 4GB Patriot Viper @ 4-4-4-12-2T, and GTS 8800 512mb (G92) X 2 in SLI.

Here is my latest 3Dmark06 score! I switched to Patriot Viper memory with 4-4-4-12-2T timings as compared to the Corsair XMS2 with 5-5-5-18-2T timings.
